Bloch carefully reexamines the views of de Sacy (see https://biblia-arabica.com/bibl/QMXS8HBK) and Juynboll (see https://biblia-arabica.com/bibl/DT4XRJ2R) on the emergence of the translation and concludes that Abū Saʿīd must be regarded as its revisor and scholiast, and not as the original translator whose identity is uncertain. The edited text, covering chapters 1-11 of Deuteronomy, is based on MS: Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Ar. 5, but has been emendated in some places with the aim of producing a text as close as possible to the one supposedly intended by Abū Saʿīd.
