Abstract

Van Vloten's doctoral dissertation contains a general exposition on the Arabic translation of the Samaritan Pentateuch, chiefly based on the study of de Sacy https://biblia-arabica.com/bibl/227GUHBP, and a description of MS: Leiden, Leiden University Library, Or. 1222, which until then had been neglected. The author edits a number of passages from the Leiden manuscript (Ex 3:1-22, 4:1-31, Lev 11:4-5, 11:9-25, 11:28-31, Num 21:1-35, Dt 28:1-69) with textual variants from MS: Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Arabe 5 and 6 and notes on philological issues.
